The Clinical Operations Director is responsible for leadership and overall management of operations of the Oregon Providence Heart Institute service lines, in collaboration with the Medical Director, executive director and physician leadership. The Director develops and implements patient care systems to assure cost effective, high quality, coordinated, patient focused care and other services necessary to meet the strategic, operational and financial goals of the Providence Heart Institute. The Director builds relationships resulting in compassionate and committed teams within clinical operations and with all stakeholders. Directs activities in a manner which is consistent with Providence Core Values, standards of care, mission, and goals. The Director will actively collaborate with other leadership divisions/teams to achieve desired outcomes for clinical operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides overall operational direction and leadership to the Oregon Providence Heart Institute service lines. Assures compliance with the laws, rules and standards of regulatory bodies and accreditation agencies.
  • Actively collaborates with physician leadership and governance committees associated with service line in defining strategies, operational direction, productivity and efficiency measures and continuous improvement programs to achieve the goals of the service line.
  • Provides relevant operational feedback to and from providers, managers, hospital and program administrators and staff involved in clinic operations and programs so as to influence strategic and tactical program modifications and changes in direction.
  • Hires, trains, guides, evaluates and provides leadership and direction for managers in the service line to support the day-to-day operations of clinics and programs, including supplies, staffing, facilities, information systems, and scheduling.
  • Accountable for overall operating and financial success of assigned clinics and programs, working with departmental fiscal and budget committee leadership, Develops goals and annual operating budgets for assigned clinics and programs, and assures that the individual clinics and programs are operated within budget guidelines, meet stated objectives and performance targets.
  • Develops and participates in budget/space/capital planning related to operating and capital budgets.
  • Monitors and performs financial reviews with physicians and clinics on clinic budgets, including revenue, payer mix, productivity and expenditures.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care, Business, Economics, or related field.
  • 7 years of management or administrative experience in health care, preferably in an integrated health system with an in-depth knowledge of healthcare clinical operations, revenue cycle management and finance.
  • Supervisory experience in a matrix structured organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Specific experience in directing cardiovascular clinical operations.
