Configuration Manager

Amentum is now hiring a Configuration Manager with experience with Configuration Management (CM) processes within planning, design, implementation, testing, and release phases of Army program of record lifecycle for both hardware and software.

This position can be filled at either the program office in Ft. Cavazos, TX or their Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD office facilities. Travel up to 25% is possible based on program needs.

You are a Configuration Manager knowledgeable in the implementation and management of a Configuration Management (CM) program for Army requirements and processes. You’re also a very detail-oriented person, capable of working well independently and as part of a team to accomplish a mission. Your focus on objectives, and your knowledge and disciplined approach to CM, ensures you have an organized and compliant approach to execute the CM requirements for Army tactical programs of record.


  • Manage and regulate change control on configuration items (CI). This will include conducting and participating in review boards, processing Change Proposals (ECP’s, RFV/RFD’s, etc.), and enforcing change management requirements in accordance with the CM Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

  • Utilize software tools (such as Microsoft Azure DevOps) to enforce software version control, assist in bug tracking, and distribute formal software and cybersecurity products internally.

  • Develop and/or maintain documentation integrity of Software/Hardware Lists (SHL), Software Version Description (SVD’s), and other CDRL’s as needed.

  • Interact with Engineering, Development, Test, Cybersecurity, and Support/Helpdesk Teams daily to capture change requests and maintain authorized baseline configurations for lifecycle support.

  • Conduct replication and distribution for all software and documentation. This includes digital distribution on Government approved sites, physical DVD or other media distributions to Units, and issuing Load Directives as needed.

  • Interface with Vendors and other Contractors to forecast changes to hardware and software configurations, and facilitate distribution to Development, Engineering, and Cybersecurity Teams as necessary.

  • Assist with the modification, management and distribution of Detailed Technical Procedures (DTP) and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP).

  • Assist with license issuance for all fielded Unit’s, conduct license audits, and generate license reports for leadership. Maintain Quality Assurance on all CM developed and deliverable products.

  • Manage and input information within CM and Logistics tools.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, and at least 7 years of experience in Configuration Management or related field

    • Or High School diploma/GED, and at least 15 years of overall work experience of which 11 years must be relevant experience in Configuration Management or related field

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Must have an active Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior education/experience providing support to the Department of Defense(DoD) / Army program of record (ACAT 1 to 3)

  • Experience with Agile Software Development

  • Experience with Configuration Management processes within the planning, design, implementation, testing, and releases phases of Army programs

  • Knowledgeable on Army Command, Control and Communication systems

  • Familiar with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, VMWare ESXi, and CISCO switches/routers and iOS

  • Well-versed in MIL-HDBK-61B and other configuration management standards

  • Excellent communication skills and strong organizational skills
